Surf Fishing Ocean Isle Beach
The surf zone here is mostly shallow and featureless. Excellent swimming beach, kinda subpar for surf fishing. At least by North Carolina standards. The beaches fronting and near Tubbs Inlet and Shallotte Inlet offer up respectable surf fishing. More structure and water movement helps with bringing the bait and the fish together. Expect small game for the most part. Whiting and blues in the spring, pompano in the summer. Flounder and puppy drum in the fall. Again, expect small game. Dig up some live sand fleas for bait and you might find a respectable Black Drum or two fishing close to the inlet.
