There is a seasonal Off Road Vehicle Route from Ramp 23 to about the Rodanthe pier usually opened October 15th until April 14th. In the summer, expect to walk the shore here. There are plenty of good sloughs and bars along the beach. Good overall fishing of a mix variety of fish, large bluefish in the Spring and Fall. Pea Island north of Rodanthe all the way to Oregon Inlet is closed to off road traffic. Good fishing, only accessible by foot. There's a spot of certain renown, called The Boiler about six miles south of Oregon Inlet.
