The fishing is ok, lots of tourists, best to avoid in the busier months. The gamefish are there (small gamefish, anyway.), just so are the tourist. Winter time fishing for puppy drum in the surf is a thing. Two or three days of warm weather in the winter and then go and fish the rip and just behind the first break. Really, winter surf fishing from Topsail to Pleasure Island can be pretty respectable.Wilmington Area Beaches
